Home at last: Atlantis makes historic final landing as Nasa's 30-year shuttle programme comes to an end


The sad part is we have NOTHING to replace it. The only thing on the drawing board and even close to testing is an updated version of the Saturn rockets. We have really come a long way, all the way back to the sixties where the ruskies were kicking our ass on a daily basis. Congratulations progressives we are no longer the donminate force in space exploration. Hope you are happy.

That's assuming the vodka-swilling nihilists are competent to produce anything more sophisticated than a flying ZiL, which I seriously doubt. The shuttles may have been pointless and outdated rustbuckets which were cobbled together with hope and political phlegm, but they were Intergalactic Dreadnoughts by Russian standards.
