Free! Free! Be Free!

The above photos were taken by a friend. He says "These 3 signs are in a 18 foot hallway. Pitiful!"

Houston ISD, one of the less spectacular exmaples of public education (to be polite about it), is once again offering free meals to all kids during the summer.

Food Services Spokesperson Julie Spreckelmeyer says it's open to everyone 18 and under, whether they're in school or not.

"The great thing about it is that it offers free meals to any child between the ages of one and 18. All they have to do is show up at a school, participating school or campus in Houston, and they can get a breakfast or a lunch at no charge."

Why are they doing this? It's really quite simple, as Mrs Jarhead (an administrator in the local district) has explained to me: it's all about numbers. The more kids they can get to sign for a free lunch, the more money the district gets from the federal government. That would be our tax money. Yours and mine.

It's the same principle on which the EPA thrives, and the one which drives the welfare queens to pop out children like an ovarian machinegun. It's what you get when you let the unemployed, the under-educated and the entitled cast a vote. Many have said it, but I'll state it again: If you ain't got skin in the game, you don't get to play.

Except that they do. Because the modern Democrat party has structured a system of vote buying that has become institutionalized. I'll give old LBJ this: the bastard was crafty. Evil, selfish, and twisted -- but crafty.
