They do now. It has been programmed into them since the Roosevelt administration to think of the Federal Government as the arbiter of all things foreign, domestic, family , health..etc.
People have the accepted and spout the mantra "the Government should (fill in the blank)", when we founded the country on self reliance and personal responsibility. The only thing the Government should be doing is getting the Hell out of our way so we can get the economy going again and become the greatest nation.

I can't figure out if Reid is an evil genius or a congenital moron. I'm leaning heavily towards the latter.
