What passes for logic these days...
"I am buying an electric car to reduce dependence on foreign oil."
Well then you are a moron. Where do you think the increase in electricity to charge up that car comes from? From the power plants that are fueled by the 90% of foreign oil we import. You are just shuffling the usage around, and increasing it, not reducing it.
Going Green. The biggest farce since the Spanish Inquisition.
(I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition.)
(Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.)....

Wrong...wrong....wrong! Damnit you drive an electric car to save the environment. That is our story line stick with it dumbass hippie. Oh and take a bath LALA.
Actually only about 1% of electricity in the US comes from petroleum. Most (~45%) comes from Coal burning plants...Mmmmm carbon.
Only a measly 20% comes from nuclear...silly hairless apes.
Ok, the basic premis still stands. We cannot reduce our dependence on foreign oil, nor can we "save the environment" by using electric cars. All we are doing is shifting the "carbon emmissions" from your vehicle to the power generation plants. I don't have the data, but I'd wager it's a less efficient conversion to boot.
And I bathe. Using hot water, heated by my electric water heater. And I drain the 40 gallon tank dry each time, and watch my meter spin like a top.
Possibly, the 90% figure I got is from heating oil. Need to dig that pie chart out again. Google is your friend.
'zactly...all we are doing is squeezing the balloon so the bulge is on the other end.
Energy is energy...different forms...but it don't come from nothing.
Or as the saying goes...There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. TANSTAAFL!
Me thinks too many of these "environmental activists" didn't pay attention in physics or chem class.
