Sir Slimeball

Gold-plating a turd:

Britain will award an honorary knighthood to veteran U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

Could it be the record of Tipsy Ted's great deeds which inspired the British to bestow this diplomatic honor? Perhaps his fervent patriotism? Or maybe the sterling character of his family tipped the scales in his favor. Personally, I'd prefer the limeys crown him -- with a wrecking bar.

President Obama has hailed Kennedy as a "giant in American political history."

A giant what?

Self-evidently I do not believe in Hell or eternal damnation. But from time to time, in special circumstances, my emotions overcome my rationality and I hold out some hope that I'm wrong on that count.

To me, Ted Kennedy epitomizes what is wrong with politics. The nepotism, the disregard for the rule of law, partisanship, the sheer greed and lust for power and the air of elitism. This permeates both sides of the aisle (The recent pork bill called stimulus, the bridge to nowhere).
Until we the People stand up and vote these clowns out, we will continue down this road until we are bankrupt, morally, financially, and culturally.
Getting incumbents out of office has become near impossible. The system they have created makes it difficult to get anyone new with a chance, to run, and I know some of you would rather vote for Hitler than the opposing party. The only way to attack it is at the primary level, because once they get to the general election it is a done deal. So remember, when the next primary comes around vote for the other person, and if there is no other person, run yourself, or find and support a viable candidate. No one should be running for office unopposed. That is not Democracy, that is Cuba.
