Brush with greatness

The other day I had the opportunity to meet former senator and presidential candidate Bob Dole. His wife is running for senate here in NC. During the meeting, he told a story about something that happened to him a year after the election. He said he had stopped at a local fast food place and a gentleman came up behind him and asked him if he ever was mistaken for that Bob Dole guy. When he said yes, the guy asked him "don't you just hate that?"
I don't know how you feel about him, but I felt he was one of the last of the statesmen to run through there(the senate). No matter your politics he always believed in doing what he thought was best for the country and not just Kansas, or his re-election.

That's cool. I was a Dole delegate to the Country level convention during the '88 Republican primary. A primary I remember best because we were over-run by Pat Robertson's mindless drones at our convention.

Good luck to Libby Dole in her re-election bid, a tight race if I recall correctly.

GAah! Pat Robertson... I'd almost managed to forget about that psycho-religious loon turd. At least he's mostly kept his festering suck shut during this election cycle.
