Reporters put off the plane, TV stations denied access, regular people investigated by government offices and their name dragged through the mud. You don't need jack booted thugs with guns coming in the middle of the night to oppress free speech and the press, you just let it be known that if you are critical, you get no access. Maybe a tough time at FCC license renewal time. If they want to stay in business the press with censor itself and people won't speak up for fear of being Wurzelbacher'ed.
