Trekkies Prepare

One step closer to Star Trek MMO
Apparently they felt that Trekkies were starting to get a life, so they will be releasing a Star Trek MMO soon. Prepare to lose your significant other and all live human contact for the next few months.

There are some MMO universes that lend themselves to having players acting as free agents, following their own goals, desires and agendas (however immature, stupid or illogical they may be). The Star Trek Universe is not one of these IMnsHO. I can't help but have the strong strong feeling that this will achieve maximum suckage capacity within 2 months of release.

All that being said...I really would like to play a good SciFi based MMO again.

Anarchy Online has promise of revival if they complete their planned graphics engine upgrade sometime this year. But right now the players are spread pretty thin. Not sure if there is anything else out there that's good in that genre right now unfortunately.

I like you, can't see how they can have a LOT of independent play, since the Trek-Verse is more ship oriented than planet-side. Personally, I would like to see a good Sci-fi MMORPG set in like Blade runner future, with a little Aliens 2 action thrown in for flavor, with just a dash of Battle Star Galactaca. Plus it would be cool if they pulled in some lame 50 sci-fi references for fun, but that is just me.

This is gonna suck in a Big Way. Trying to recreate a disciplined and structured naval chain of command in a MMO environment makes about as much sense as holding a 60 year high school reunion at a Chuck-E-Cheese. I have this vision of thousands of characters with names like Ilovespock4evar and JTKirK881701.

Oh FUN!

I think I'll stick to picking the lint out of my navel, thanks.

Now, is that available for the PC, Mac, or is it a console game?

No no. It's a ceramic throne game.
