Upgrade

See, dear? You should be grateful there were no sharks during my last upgrade. So next time I'm working on the computer and you hear a "C@#ksuckin' motherf#*kin donkey-r&ping a$$f&@ker!!!" wafting out of the Man Cave, just think to yourself: "No sharks; I'm good."

I’ve always stayed clear of anything with “Berkley” in the title. I know it’s shallow but when there are other options....

Never dealt with BSD. I did use BerkeleyTerm to access the Internet during the bad old days of UseNet and Gopher, though.

I once had a Linux box set up as a network router, (or more correctly, Mad Builder set it up for me), but that went by the wayside pretty quickly when it started interfering with my online gaming pleasure and Ug the Impatient Jarhead couldn't figure out how to fix it, (unless you consider a well-swung 9-iron "fixing" it).

Heh. It isn't a coincidence that the logo for BSD is a small devil/gremlin is ya' know. But it is stable and free, and free can go a long way sometimes.

The best user friendly desktop unix now is Apple OS X, hands down. They've pulled off what Linux has been struggling to do for a while and been rewarded with growing sales.

But I'll still go with RedHat or Novell's Suse Linux for servers in the Datacenter...unless I have to run a Micky$oft specific service app like Exchange or Sharepoint.
