CoH Cultural Events Calendar

Well knock me dead with a horsefeather... somebody in the City of Houston government is actually doing something, (which doesn't involve graft, that is).

The city has set up a very useful Events Calendar, which will tell you on any given day all the cultural events happening in the Houston area. More amazing yet, you can link to individual venues and view comprehensive calendars on their city-sponsored dot-org sites. The Jones Hall calendar, for example, lists concerts much further out than does the commercial site for that venue. The site is an excellent starting point to search for happenings and find tickets for events all around the Houston area.

Once again I am forced to admit that Houston really is becoming a cultured city -- astonishing as that may seem to someone like me who grew up in and around the Great Industrial Swamp of Texas.

Now if we can just get a real mass-transit system to support this budding but far-flung cultural network. Buses are not acceptable as mass transit, so stop trying to sell us that load of poo. I am not going to get on a bus with the great unwashed masses so I can go downtown to see a play or concert. Not. Going. To. Happen. Ever. Let's talk monorail.
