Swedish Signification

Name that baby:

Metallica may work as a name for a heavy metal band, but a Swedish couple is struggling to convince authorities it's also suitable for a baby girl.

Sweden's tax agency rejected Michael and Karolina Tomaro's application to name their 6-month-old daughter after the legendary rock band.

I'm torn on this one. On one hand, I detest the government intervening in something as personal as naming a child. It smacks of heavy-handed bureaucracy and a Huxley-esqe "utopia." There is something fundamentally wrong about the government telling you "no, you can't have that one. Try again." It degrades the entire process, as if you're trying to create a web e-mail address or something equally inane.

"It suits her," Karolina Tomaro, 27, said of the name. "She's decisive and she knows what she wants."

On the other hand, the parents are assnuggets.
