No Flag for You!

Though an admittedly rare occurrence, it's refreshing to hear the occasional bit of sanity emerge from a politician's mouth. The "broadcast flag" is an attempt by the entertainment industries to over-extend their copyright protection by encouraging (read: "bribing") the FCC to over-reach their authority. Senator John Sununu (R-NH) is in the process of administering a legislative beat-down to the FCC over the matter:

"The FCC seems to be under the belief that it should occasionally impose technology mandates... Whether well-intentioned or not, the FCC has no business interfering in private industry to satisfy select special interests or to impose its own views."

Go get 'em, John! Federal agencies need to be slapped down--hard--at regular intervals, or they'll get the big head and make a correspondingly large mess on the kitchen floor.
