With Barry Bonds, it's always somebody else's fault. First steroids, now speed. When popped for the amphetamines, he said:

actually before he joined the steroid ring, barry was well on his way to being a hall of famer. His stats before 2001 were hall of fame worthy. However barry decided that that wasnt enough and he wanted the same love and idolization that sammy and mark received in 1998. The difference between those two and barry is that they had personalities that could be described as warm while barry is a complete asshole. But lack of personality doesnt keep one out of the hall (see ty cobb). I think that eventually many of the stars of the roid era will gain admittance to the hall, but it will take some time.
