Eat Me

I wouldn't have thought it possible, but PETA has actually found a new level of inanity:

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants Six Flags Great America to scrap its Halloween-themed cockroach-eating promotion.

The park in Gurnee, Ill., is joining other Six Flags parks in offering unlimited line-jumping privileges to anyone who eats a live Madagascar hissing cockroach...

A spokeswoman for the animal rights organization says the contest at the amusement park's FrightFest is "gratuitously cruel."

Yes, obviously. Because all of the natural predators of roaches in the wild trap them humanely, inject them with a cocktail of lethal chemicals to gently euthanize the roaches, and then cook them thoroughly in a tasty butter-based spice sauce.

Oh, wait; no they don't... they eat them alive!

Coincidentally, bears eat PETA activists alive. Or at least I think they would; we should try it. In the interest of science, of course. Because it may turn out that live PETA activists are the favorite food of bears...and we wouldn't want to deprive the bears of their favorite food source. That would be cruel. I'm sure PETA would agree. (The lions and tigers might get jealous; best throw a few activists to them, as well.)
