Barbarians at the Gates

Here's an object example of the consequences of giving a man a fish instead of teaching him to catch his own: he reverts to barbarism and superstition.

Advanced technology is the dividend of civilized society; the reverse is not true, nor will it ever be so. For some reason, the modern Left has a really difficult time grasping that simple notion. After watching South Africa self-destruct in slow-motion over the last decade, like some sort of water-logged TinkerToy set, it's hard to imagine a more pointed lesson. Unfortunately, I don't have to imagine one, as it's almost upon us: Iran.

The consequences there, however, are much more disastrous than a few rioting high school students. Nor will those consequences be confined to a single, back-sliding nation.

Our enemies have made clear their position. If we don't wake up and smell the stinking hordes swarming over the Seventh Hill, it's going to be a very long, bleak century.
