Fire Waiters

Yet more firefighting stupidity:

Rural firefighters stood by and watched a fire destroy a garage and a vehicle because the property owner, who was injured battling the flames, had not paid membership dues.

This is another of those situations where I can't determine who the biggest idiots in the story are, so I propose we throw the whole lot of them into StupidPrison™ and let the sodomites sort 'em out.

Really, folks; how hard is this to figure out? Fight the fire, then bill the landowner for all back dues and one year of future dues. If he refuses to make a good-faith effort to pay, then you lien his property. At the very least, you haven't opened yourself up to the possibility of a negligent injury lawsuit--like you just did with Mr. Rueda.

Boy, that was hard, huh? Any high school business law class student could figure that one out.

It makes me wonder how some people manage to find their way out of the house each morning.
