New ChiCom Sub

China is cranking out these small diesel-electric littoral boats at a breakneck pace. Obviously they are intended for moving against Taiwan, ideal for fighting the USN in the straits where many of our advantages are neutralized and keeping the carriers pushed as far out to sea as possible. The question now is not "if" but "when". It wouldn't surprise me if they try it early next year. Biden is a feckless sockpuppet, which is why Putin is moving on Ukraine. If the Donks lose the House in the midterms, which is quite possible, he'll be utterly paralyzed for the last two years of his term. They cut naval funding to the bone for FY22 and FY23 will be no better, probably worse. Which means the USN will be laying up ships left and right next year. Looking like a heaven-sent opportunity for the ChiComs, isn't it? But it gets worse.
Since the US doesn't formally recognize the Taiwanese government -- it's more of a wink-wink nudge-nudge sort of thing in order to keep the ChiComs placated -- a Donk-controlled Washington might even sit on their hands and play dumb, forcing other powers to try to fight them off and thus sparking a world war.
In early 1941, FDR and every flag officer in the US Navy knew a war with Japan was coming. The politics and economics of the situation made it inevitable; it was simply a matter of how it was going to start. We are in a very similar situation with China right now.

They may be waiting for our mid-terms to see what the radicals of each side do. The pump has already been primed by both sides with the " THEYS BE CHEATINNNN!", and if enough folks believe the election is illegitimate, then there is nothing to say we may be too busy with our own problems to care about Ukraine, Tiawan, or even Western Europe.
Don't know about you, but Montana is looking REAL good right now. Oh, and as the wise sage who runs this outfit says.....buy ammo.
