The American Frontier

An excellent video series focusing on the survival skills used by longhunters (professional near-frontier wild game hunters) in early America. Some of this stuff I learned in military survival schools, but much of it is new to me and surprisingly easy. Makes sense, as all woodcraft skills are developed out of bare necessity. I was particularly fascinated to learn how simple it is to make jerky from raw meat. For some reason, I'd always assumed it was an involved process. Nope. Just a fire, some sticks and a blanket.

Well worth your time to watch, whether your interest is in using the skills in the field on hunting trips or simply for the historical novelty.
