Way of the DODO
This article talks about the death of the old way of making movies. The writer talks about overpriced productions (IE: Unions), overpriced tickets, and the arrogance of everyone in the business. Basically the same things that killed the old way of making music and getting news, is what is changing the movie industry, but the old guard at the studios refuse to see it. They believe they are immune. Keep thinking that and you will be making the best buggie whips in the business.

The article comes close to the salient point but shies away: what will kill Hollywood is realistic computer rendering of actors and sets. Exhibit A: Gran Moff Tarkin in the recent Star Wars movie.
When an amateur story writer can buy software that will render a high production quality movie on his home computer while he's sipping coffee in his underwear, Hollywood is cooked. That day is not very far off.
Hollywood and the vile reptiles which inhabit it are not artists, they are nothing but an intermediary, a tool for getting stories onto the screen. When a better tool comes along, one that the writer can use directly, they'll be obsolete faster than you can click a mouse. I will take great pleasure in seeing Ashton Kutcher digging through a dumpster for his dinner.
Amen to that thought. I like the thought of all of the "Stars" finding out what they are really worth in the real world.
