Stand or Sit Out

Good for him:

John Tortorella is warning his Team USA players that they will ride the bench during the World Cup of Hockey if they pull a Colin Kaepernick and don’t stand for the national anthem.

“If any of my players sit on the bench for the national anthem, they will sit there the rest of the game,” the former New York Rangers head coach told ESPN.

Nice to see someone take that stand, but I don't suspect it would really be a problem in this case. Pro hockey players as a group aren't whiny, spoiled prima donnas like many football and basketball players have become. We won't even talk about the metrosexuals who think soccer -- a.k.a., kickball for girls -- is a real sport.

While we're on the subject, I suspect that when Mr Kaepernick goes on the field, he is going to find that more than a few linebackers and defensive ends will happily risk fines and suspensions as they compete for the privilege of sending him to the hospital. I eagerly await the highlights.
