Weekend Watching

The Gallant Hours is to the best of my knowledge a totally unique war movie. That's because there isn't a single battle scene in it. Everything is filmed from an operational command perspective, focusing on Admirals William Halsey and Isoroku Yamamoto as they attempt to outwit each other for control of the seas around Guadalcanal. Starring James Cagney as Halsey, this film was made in 1960, before Hollywood had devolved into the vile creature it has since become. Highest recommendation.
