RIP Mr Hockey

Missed this one last week. As a young boy, I was privileged to see Gordie Howe play with the Houston Aeros during his stint with the WHA. Players who are the epitome of a sport are by definition the rarest of the rare: Sam Snead, Michael Jordan, Johnny Unitas. Gordie Howe was that man for hockey. He played professionally until he was 52. Hockey... at fifty-FUCKING-TWO. Makes me hurt just thinking about it. Rest in peace.

And remains the only NHL player to play on the same team with his son, at the same time. Hartford Whalers, before they moved to Raleigh to become the Hurricanes. Nasty, proficient player on the ice, epitome of a gentleman off the ice.
Will never be another like him.
