The Price of Ignorance
Walter Williams on blacks and the Confederacy:
The northern leftists and elitists believe that they have successfully re-written history to cast themselves as liberators, while their ignorant tools parade in the streets and chant vapid slogans as an excuse for fomenting anarchy and chaos. What they've actually accomplished, however, is to lay the groundwork for the Second American Civil War. I don't know when that war will start or which states will end up on which side; I know only that it is a certainty if we stay our current course as a nation. The Tenth Amendment exists to obstruct the Federal government from overreaching its authority, as happened in the 1850s. Failing to discourage peacefully, the Tenth Amendment's secondary purpose is that of a war trigger.
That is exactly what happened in 1861 when, after more than a decade of greedy northern industrial interests trampling the trade rights of southern states, they finally pushed too far. Men do not go to war on a whim, the protestations of soft-handed Leftists notwithstanding. There must be valid reasons for bloodletting on such a monumental scale, all the more so when brother must fight brother; only the most dire of threats can bring that hideous specter out of its cave. The threat which the north presented was not of freeing the slaves, (which did not become an issue until Mr Lincoln's Army started running out of war funds), but rather in their attempt to turn all men, white and black, who lived south of Washington D.C. into slaves of the Federalists and their masters in New York City. That is what triggered the American Civil War.
If the Feds continue to trample on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, specifically the Tenth, a schism is inevitable. We will not sit idly by as the Leftists in the north attempt to remold this nation into a twisted and abhorrent socialist hellscape wherein all roads lead to D.C. I would rather see this great nation for which I've shed my blood and tears torn asunder than watch as Leftists pervert her into a disgusting parody of the bankrupt ideologies she was created to oppose.
I am not alone.
Those who forget -- or worse, bury -- history are doomed to repeat it. Misguided attempts to ban the stars-and-bars will simply hasten that repeat lesson, not prevent it.

Last July, Anthony Hervey, an outspoken black advocate for the Confederate flag, was killed in a car crash. Arlene Barnum, a surviving passenger in the vehicle, told authorities and the media that they had been forced off the road by a carload of "angry young black men" after Hervey, while wearing his Confederate kepi, stopped at a convenience store en route to his home in Oxford, Mississippi.
His death was in no small part caused by the gross level of ignorance, organized deceit and anger about the War of 1861. Much of the ignorance stems from the fact that most Americans believe the war was initiated to free slaves, when in truth, freeing slaves was little more than an afterthought.
Black civil rights activists, their white liberal supporters and historically ignorant Americans who attack the Confederate flag have committed a deep, despicable dishonor to our patriotic Southern black ancestors who marched, fought and died not to protect slavery but to protect their homeland from Northern aggression. They don't deserve the dishonor. Dr. Leonard Haynes, a black professor at Southern University, stated, "When you eliminate the black Confederate soldier, you've eliminated the history of the South."
