No wonder they charge 25 bucks a bag to check luggage, they send it on a roller coaster ride through multi million dollar machines. Here is a crazy idea, just scan and let everyone check it at the gate. No giant sorting machine needed, just a the same guys who are already standing there. BOOM! just saved the airline industry. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. No need to pay engineers to design some fancy sorting system, nor the expensive maintenance people for same, just a few minimum wage guys to fling bags.
