Work Ethic

Mike Rowe of the show Dirty Jobs responds to a lazy little lefty turd who accuses him of "right wing propaganda" because he's always preaching the importance of a work ethic. You can read the whole response at the link, but this piece is absolutely brilliant:

The Left howled about the bias at Fox and condemned the one-percent, while the Right shrieked about the bias at MSNBC and bemoaned the growing entitlement state. But through all the howling and shrieking, no one said a word about the millions of jobs that American companies are struggling to fill right now. No one talked [about] the fact that most of those jobs don’t require an expensive four-year degree. And no one mentioned the 1.2 trillion dollars of outstanding student loans, or the madness of lending money we don’t have to kids who can’t pay it back, educating them for jobs that no longer exist.

Or that never existed in the first place. Art isn't a major, it's a hobby. Same goes for poetry. Race studies is just an outright scam and we have more than enough lawyers, thank you.

The unemployment problem isn't higher mathematics, regardless of how the government tries to obfuscate the matter. It is, in fact, blindingly simple: stop paying able-bodied people to sit on their asses. When they get hungry, they'll work or they'll starve. Either is an acceptable outcome.

Of course the Donks don't wanna talk about that dirty little problem. It is their political bread and butter: enslavement to the state assures obedience at the poll.

The statements coming out of the left these days are mind-boggling in their logical incoherence. If the importance of a good work ethic is "right wing propaganda", then what exactly does the left wing stand for? Who do they think creates and supports all those cool gadgets that allow them to broadcast their ignorance on the internet?

It still astounds me that people who constantly rail against the evils of capitalism and for ever-increasing government control over every aspect of our lives call themselves "liberals".

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Agreed, which is why I now refuse to call them liberals. They have forfeited their right, if ever such existed, to apply that label to themselves. They are Leftists, or Progressives (which also makes me chuckle at the irony), or Communists or just outright totalitarian stool pigeons. In any case, you are correct that the modern Democrat party in America bears no resemblance whatsoever to classical liberalism. By the classical definition, in fact, *I* am a liberal. By the standards of the modern Democrats, JFK was a right-wing radical.
