Kin

My fellow jarheads will probably recognize this view. It's the entrance to the main street in Kin ("Kinville") directly across from Gate 1 at Camp Hansen in Okinawa. Google recently got high-resolution street views of much of Okinawa, including Kin. Piclick and you can wander around a bit. Circle around the block to the east and you can come around behind "yakisoba row," into the main bar district. Many of the Flip girl bars are still there, though there don't appear to be quite as many as I remember. God, it looks seedy during the daylight. I'm sure the intervening 25 years haven't helped at all, of course. You can also wander down to Naha, if you like.

Strangely, Hansen is still active. After all the bluster a few years ago about shutting down all the Marine bases and moving them to Guam, it's apparently not happening. According to Wikipedia, the camp is in the process of being turned into a joint training base for the USMC and the JDF.
