Unpaid

I hadn't gotten around to addressing the most recent circus act from Ferguson. Banduar does so quite well, however, so I'll just leave this here...

Banduar writes:

I'm quite amused by the story about the Ferguson protesters complaining that they haven't been paid.

There is some pretty hilarious stuff in those articles. I especially liked this statement:

"There is an insidious strand of racism and white supremacy that exists in this movement and it is called the Non-Profit Industrial Complex. As a by-product, it provides decent salaries and comfort to many people who are not affected by the disparities that they are trying to address. This money is typically in the hands of white people who oversee the types of services that the non-profit provides, while having select token black people to spearhead the conversations within and to the community.”

That is amazingly close to the truth. Only two edits are needed to make it completely accurate:

"There is an insidious strand of racism and white supremacy that exists in this movement and it is called the Non-Profit Industrial Complex Democrat party. As a by-product, it provides decent salaries and comfort to many people who are not affected by the disparities that they are trying claiming to address. This money is typically in the hands of white people who oversee the types of services that the non-profit provides, while having select token black people to spearhead the conversations within and to the community."

This not-quite-yet-enlightened soul goes on to declare:

“If black lives really matter, justice and self-determination for black people would mean the black community would control it’s [sic] own political and economic resources."

Funny… that is the exact position of most conservatives and libertarians I know. Oddly, voting for community organizers and race-baiting politicians for the last 50 years or so has not increased "self-determination for black people" in the slightest. It almost seems like they WANT black people to stay poor and feel victimized...

Now let's see if anyone has the cojones to press charges for inciting riots across state lines.

I'll add only this to Banduar's excellent summary: It recently occurred to me that American blacks will quite likely go down in history as the first people to voluntarily re-enslave themselves -- to the same group! -- after their emancipation. Bizarrely, they did so while denigrating the very group who emancipated them -- up to and including accusing them of racism. You have to hand it to LBJ; the man was a genius. An evil, twisted, malicious, self-serving dickhead... but a political genius. Someone once said that the Devil's greatest trick was convincing mankind that he didn't exist. LBJ pulled off a very close approximation of that: he clapped the blacks back in irons and made them love him for it.

I keep hoping Rod Serling will step out from behind a corner, but this is unfortunately all too real.
