Thursday Tunes

Yes, yes... I know it's Wednesday. I'm not in my dotage just yet. However, today being the 200th birthday of Richard Wagner, I thought it appropriate to make this Tunes one of Wagner's greatest works, and what I consider to be one of the two most powerful pieces of music ever composed. Alongside the final movement of Beethoven's Ninth, this is a piece that will always move me when I hear it. Even people who do not like classical music are enraptured when they hear this performed live. It is not simply music; it is an emotional experience. I highly recommend that everyone attend a live performance at least once in their life.

I am humbled to present Seigfried's Funeral March from Twilight of the Gods, the final part of The Ring Cycle, by Richard Wagner. As with all Teutonic music, it is best enjoyed in a dark room with the volume turned up. This is not something you play in the background; this is a drug that you inject directly into your brain.
