The Wrong Side of History

Modern American leftists like to accuse conservatives (and pretty much anyone who doesn't agree with them) of being "on the wrong side of history." Here's an interesting article about economic cycles and the inevitability of cultural momentum. The author makes the point that Time magazine's Men of the Year for 1938 and 1939 were, respectively, Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin. It is amazing that even while dictators were actively and obviously suppressing freedom of the press in First World countries like Germany and Russia, the American media numbskulls were praising them as innovators and great leaders. Nothing has changed much since then, apparently. One begins to suspect that journalists as a species simply aren't very bright.
