Courting the Crescent
Roger L. Simon on lefties and Islam:
The variety of conservatism espoused by myself and several of the contributors to this blog, in which we do not tie our political views to our religious views, is a far better defender and supporter of classical liberal concepts and human rights than the modern "Progressives" and their frothing-at-the-mouth, detached-from-reality cravings for the Impending Utopia. I've been labeled a neo-con by people on both the Left and the Right, each for their own reasons. I consider that a pretty good indication that I'm on the correct track.
The fact is this: Islam is fundamentally incompatible with Western society, and more specifically with the ideals upon which America is based. This is not a matter of a Judeo-Christian faithful believer disliking Islam, because I'm neither a Christian nor a Jew. I'm not anything, religiously speaking. A dispassionate analysis of Islam yields no quality which is compatible with any of the concepts which "Progressives" claim to enshrine. That leaves two possibilities: they are unable to understand or they are unwilling to understand. Neither of those traits are desirable in leadership. Ipso facto, such people are unqualified to hold public office, let alone dictate the direction of our country's foreign policy.
If not for the mainstream media, Obama himself would be a laughing stock at this point. Even the great myth of multiculturalism would not be able save him.
And isn’t it interesting that since 9/11 so few “liberals” or “progressives” in that media (and elsewhere for that matter) evince a serious interest in Islam? It’s hard to find one who knows much substantive about it. Few even know what taqiyya or dhimmi law are. I have had many blank stares from otherwise intelligent people when asking even rudimentary questions.
I think the reason for this is a convenient and largely deliberate ignorance. Liberals know if they scratch the surface of Islam all the misogyny and homophobia will come pouring out, not to mention the tenets of Sharia with its attendant superiority of religious law to state law and the consequent abolition of the separation of church and state — all values and goals supposedly anathema to the liberal mind. Trying to reconcile those things with the policies of their hero-president would make their heads explode, so better not to know about them.

The liberal amnesia to islam, which is driven by the highest and most powerful liberal leaders, you know, the people that tell Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc... what to do and say, most likely has more to do with where they are receiving funding than that they are afraid to look at the truth. It is unimaginable that the most wealthy and powerful muslims wouldn't be funding an agenda in this country. Not that they are the only ones.
