It's the Economy, Stupid!
I have hit on the solution to our economy and job market. It's absolutely brilliant, and cannot fail. I am using Obama Care as my model since Democrats are hanging their hats on that, and how it will improve the economy and everyone will have free healthcare, we'll be all touchy-feely, and Islamic extremists will love us..
Mandate that every American MUST get a job, or pay a penalty on their tax returns, like the $900 tax, um, penalty proposed by Obama Care. This will ensure that every American is working, and the cost of not having a job is carried by those not having jobs, instead of the proletariat, um, working-class. If you already have a job, you can keep your existing job. If not, you are eligible for jobs provided by government, similar to how Medicaid provides free healthcare to Americans who choose not to work or support themselves today. Since Obama Care requires medical professionals to provide their services free of charge, my jobs bill will require employers to provide jobs, even if they don't have work to be performed by the prospective employees.
This is a flawless plan. I can't imagine why the bleeding heart Liberals didn't think of it first.

This sounds remarkably like what our union fitters spout all the time. The difference, of course, is that they are completely serious. One of the foremen (who is actually a pretty good hand) came into my office a couple weeks ago to tell me I needed to sell a bunch of work at cost, because too many of his union brothers were on the bench at the hall. I found it impossible to argue with his "logic," in much the same way you can't argue with a child who repeatedly screams "NONONONONO!"
