Inmates are running the Assylum
South Carolina requires a permit to recycle metals over a certain amount. It seems to me that this is a complete waste of time and taxpayer funds as well as being counter-productive. I predict that this will do nothing to deter copper theft and serve only to discourage the average citizen from recycling their junk. I just took about 5 or ten pounds of scrap aluminum to be recycled. Large-scale criminal that I am, I was bureaucracied (my new word) damn near to fingerprinting for just a handful of change.
Appears that recycling has now reached the damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't point too.
Coming soon: permits to buy plants since they recycle CO2 into O2. Permits to compost. Permits to breathe.
Hurry, because we will soon be unable to recycle our plowshares.
I expect nothing less than nonsensical knee-jerk legislation out of government anymore.
