Scientific progress goes 'huh?!?'

Gore is caught misrepresenting data yet again. No real news here.

What caught my attention was a comment made by the scientist he was misquoting:

"It's unclear to me how this figure was arrived at," Dr. Maslowski said. "I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this."

This sounds eerily similar to a quote by the fortune telling teacher of divination in the Harry Potter series. Here is the "exact" estimate he is referring to:

"These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr. [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 percent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years."

So, he cannot even predict results to within 25%? It astounds me how this can be passed off as science, when it doesn’t meet ANY of the criteria that define the scientific method. This is a sad reflection of the state of our educational system, but what can you expect when the bureaucrats in charge cannot differentiate between science and theology.

That’s funny, here is Ol’ Unswerving Maslowski warning the AGU the North Pole will be completely ice free in 2013 and that estimate he claims is conservative! This article was published in 2007. Fast forward to 2010 and you’re running away from your models like Tiger Woods runs from his wife.

You're a worthless hack Maslowski
