Re-Volting
It's a spade:
The engineers and corporate managers at GM know the Volt is an ugly baby, but PBO and the Kabinet Kiddies are stuffing it down their throats, so they have to make polite noises about the silly thing in public.
While it's emotionally satisfying to see someone senior in the industry point out the naked emperor, the reality is that you've got to play the political correctness game to keep the envirotards off your ass.
For example, you wouldn't believe the amount of tail-chasing, price-increasing stupidity involved in constructing a new commercial building to LEED "environment friendly" standards. Everybody in the construction industry knows that LEED is a giant turd in the punchbowl, but: 1) it keeps a muzzle on the ecodummies, and; 2) it sells more expensive buildings to ignorant clients. Hence, everybody coos to the ugly baby.
It's just business.
Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen...said the [Chevy] Volt is "a car for idiots." Adding that they're too expensive and, "No one is going to pay a $15,000 premium for a car that competes with a (Toyota) Corolla. So there are not enough idiots who will buy it." He predicted that the Volt will fall flat, which will cause the federal government to step in and subsidize the Volt in order to save face and boost sales.
And what about pure electric vehicles? According to de Nysschen, "they're for the intellectual elite who want to show what enlightened souls they are."
