Spoiled brats get lost

link

MAHWAH, N.J. — Six family members who got lost hiking along the border of Bergen and Passaic counties are telling police a ranger refused to help.

Did a little looking into this story, some facts were left out. I am going to post the whole story since it is short

Susan and Ian Ratner and their four children hiked the Camp Glen Gray recreation area on Sunday afternoon.
After three hours, they got disoriented. They called police on a cell phone, but were disconnected.
Police got enough information to start a search, which included a State Police helicopter.
The family later told police that the caretaker at Camp Glen Gray Campgrounds wouldn't give them a ride or a cell phone. The family says he told them to use a pay phone.
Caretaker Drew Baumgardt tells the Record of Bergen County he did not deny the lost family aid.
The family eventually made it out of the woods by following the sound of police sirens.

A few facts ommitted from this story are:
1.Camp Gel grey is a former boyscout camp with well defined hiking trails. It would be the same as if you got lost along your local parks nature trail
2.They ran into the ranger while he was cleaning a sleep cabin on the trail, he invited them in to warm up and pointed them to the pay phone 30 feet away
3. The sleep cabins are on the other side of the lake from the public parking area.
Based off of the this information, it sounds more to me like they were tired of walking and wanted a ride out. They got mad when he didn't cater to their needs. If anything the family should be charged for wasting public resources
