Walks Like a Duck

I was trying not to comment on the whole Michael Vick situation, but this is going too far:

Some people here, though, still were sticking with Vick, even as most were sticking it to him. In a reader forum on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Web site, one post maintained, "This is about race no matter how we put it. White folks can shoot ducks all day, but when you fight pit bull against pit bull it is a crime."

Would someone care to explain to me how that does not qualify as racist commentary? Or is it acceptable for people of Negroid descent to make racist comments, but not for people of Caucasoid ancestry to do so? If such people are really concerned about obliterating racial prejudice, perhaps they should start by looking in a mirror.

Michael Vick is genetic flotsam, regardless of his race. He was so before he was caught dogfighting, and he will remain so whatever else happens with the trial.

Can we please stop making national heroes out of borderline illiterates who play games for a living?

The NAACP, in typical fashion, is trying to play the victim card for Vick:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/law/08/22/vick/index.html

"In some instances, I believe Michael Vick has received more negative press than if he would've killed a human being," White said. "The way he is being persecuted, he wouldn't have been persecuted that much had he killed somebody."

Apparently, this guy has a short enough memory to forget the media circus that was OJ's trial. Maybe PETA thinks this is a bigger deal, but I'm pretty sure murder would have gotten a worse reaction.

White also said he didn't understand the uproar over dogfighting, when hunting deer and other animals is perfectly acceptable.

1) Its illegal.
2) Ducks, deer and other wild animals are hunted for food and to keep their population in check (and sure, for sport too) and at least have a chance for survival . Domesticated animals are kept in captivity rely on their caretakers for survival. Making them fight for entertainment and killing the poor performers is indicative of a sadistic mentality.

Perhaps this person would do well to remember when another group in captivity was treated with something less than respect and compassion and reconsider defending such practices.

Comparing hunting to dog fighting is like comparing boxing to a plain ol ass beatin.
