Brimstone?

In today's continuing fire theme:

A 20-year-old man in Longwood is accused of using gasoline to burn down a home under construction early Thursday, according to Seminole County sheriff's deputies. Police arrested Brandon Yingling after the 7,000-square-foot structure located on Camellia Drive near Lake Brantley was destroyed by flames.

Yingling was asked about the fire after being charged with arson Thursday. "I don't know," Yingling said. "Jesus asked me all kinds of questions."

Hrm... what did this "Jesus" fellow look like? And where is he now?

"I think there should have been a fire hydrant here but from what I understand, from the police officers and other people who saw it happen, by the time it was called in, it was so totally engulfed on my mother's side that there wasn't much they could have done. I know my God is bigger than this and we will get through this."

Ah-HA! So this "God" character is involved too, is he? I knew it!

And where, pray tell, is their known cohort, the Holy Ghost? Hmmmm? Find him and bring him in for questioning! I smell sulfur...

This kind of comment really chaps my hide:

"I can't tell you how long since this fire has been going on and it is still not out," a neighbor said. "It is ridiculous. I don't know if it is the county or who it is who takes care of this problem. Somebody needs to put fire hydrants in this neighborhood. It is not acceptable."

Perhaps if you actually got involved in your community, YOU could be that "someone" who "does something" instead of standing around hand-wringing and declaiming the sorry state of things. I'm tired of this culture of victimhood that looks everywhere for answers but within.
