Hands Off the Balls!

You've seen the fake bull balls that hang off the trailer hitch of a truck? Some lawmaker in Maryland wants to ban them -- which seems to be the first response to everything anyone in Maryland finds offensive.

I'll have to side with the ACLU on this one; the language is too broad and the intent too narrow. Personally, I think the hanging balls thing is idiotic, but I've worn and displayed some things in my life that other people probably found stupid and/or offensive. In fact, I'm sure some people find the Flying Spaghetti Monster sticker on my current vehicle offensive -- or would, at any rate, if they understood what it meant.

Banning such items of personal expression is neither necessary nor desirable. Displaying such an item on your personal vehicle is, as I see it, well within the spirit of the First Amendment. If you don't like it, don't look at it.
