Satanic Peace?

A pox on all homeowners associations and other busy-bodies:

A homeowners association in southwestern Colorado has threatened to fine a resident $25 a day until she removes a Christmas wreath with a peace sign that some say is an anti-
Iraq war protest or a symbol of Satan.

Some residents who have complained have children serving in Iraq, said Bob Kearns, president of the Loma Linda Homeowners Association in Pagosa Springs. He said some residents have also believed it was a symbol of Satan.

"A symbol of Satan"? I'm trying to fathom the depth of ignorance required to believe such a thing, but I don't see the bottom. Pretty deep, I'd say.

As for the war protest part of it, I believe the First Amendment was still in effect the last time I checked. The only thing worse than an ignorant, smelly hippie is an ignorant, jingoist zealot.

Kearns ordered the committee to require Jensen to remove the wreath, but members refused after concluding that it was merely a seasonal symbol that didn't say anything. Kearns fired all five committee members.

Stalin would be proud. That's why I dig my heels in against HOAs. They're an outlet for petty powermongers and a life support system for lazy lawyers. (Almost had a redundancy there.)

This is the most upsetting, sad, ignorant, missing the point thing I have ever heard of. Peace can be a wish, despite what war may be going on at the time. Peace can be a means to share joy and hopefullness with others.
Right on for the committee members that stood up for her and her decoration.
Where can I send money to pay for her fines?

I first ran into this satanic sign as the pease symbol back in 1972. I was told by an art teacher in junior high that the peace symbol I used in an art piece was the broken cross. What I found most interesting was our assignment was to draw our horoscope signs. Talk about satanic?
