Look at Me! I'm Special!

Now go away:

A U.S. district court judge on Monday dismissed a lawsuit brought by a California atheist against the U.S. government for its use of the phrase "In God We Trust" on its coins and currency.

Michael Newdow, the Sacramento, California lawyer and doctor who had previously launched a court challenge on behalf of his daughter over the phrase "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance said in schools, had argued that "In God We Trust" on monetary instruments violates his rights.

Speaking as an atheist, I really wish this attention-whoring, affection-deprived, angst-ridden slimeball would sit down and shut the hell up. For the record, we atheists view the likes of Newdow as being just as embarrassing and revolting as normal, everyday Christians view those idiot abortion clinic bombers. They do not represent the majority--not by a long shot.

Newdow claimed that by using coins and currency bearing the phrase, he is forced to carry religious dogma, proselytise and evangelise for monotheism.

Evangelism and proselytisation are overt, deliberate acts, requiring direct and willful involvement of the committing party. To say you're being "forced" to perform those acts is moronic to the point of drooling mental decrepitude. A coin in one's pocket can no more force one to evangelize than it can force one to leap from a tall building--but I'm sure we'd all be a lot happier if the latter were true of at least one individual.
