Censorship Complicity
Only a week ago, I was praising Google for refusing to cave in to the federal government on a privacy issue. Then they turn around and do something like this:
So Google will preen and primp for the cameras on the issue of censorship, talking the talk quite well. It appears, however, that when it comes to deciding between fighting censorship in a truly oppressive state or taking a quick buck from the commies, they go down faster than a two-dollar whore.
I suppose I shouldn't have expected any better from a company that was in bed with the Kerry presidential campaign.
Google Inc's decision to block politically sensitive terms on its new Chinese search site has drawn the scrutiny of U.S. lawmakers, who next month will probe American technology companies that help Beijing's censors.
