Who's Laughing Now?

Certainly not this idiot:

Michael Lyons apparently had a funny practical joke planned for his daughter's birthday.

Lyons, 45, was arrested after he told a 13-year-old girl to hand a note to a bank teller, police said. The note said, "Give me all of your money, this is a stick up," according to a police report.

Practical jokes are the recourse of the humorless and witless; the perpetrators of such "jokes" prey upon the embarrassment of others, like social ghouls. Since Robert Heinlein already said it so well, I'll allow him to sum up my feelings about practical jokers:

A "practical joker" deserves applause for his wit according to its quality. Bastinado is about right. For exceptional wit one might grant keelhauling. But staking him out on an anthill should be reserved for the very wittiest.

Throw the moron in jail. He can exercise his "wit" on his 300-pound, homosexual cell mate.
