Alarming Development

A Camry was brutalized in Simi Valley:

A man annoyed by a noisy car alarm fired at least three bullets into a Toyota Camry, silencing the alarm and bringing out police who hauled him away in handcuffs, authorities said.

Okay, that's definitely extreme, but you have to admit you know where this guy is coming from, especially if you've ever lived in apartments. I think we've all been driven half-nuts by somebody's alarm going off for hours on end--though most of us don't pick up guns and start shooting at the offending vehicle, however appealing the prospect.

All of which is what makes this so irritating:

The owner of the Camry...was visiting a friend when he heard the gunfire at about 10 p.m. Tuesday...

So you were there. And you heard the gunfire. Which means you could also hear the alarm going off, presumably for hours--at the very least long enough to drive this guy to violence. Then why the hell didn't you go turn the stupid alarm off, you clueless tool?

I hereby declare that everyone involved in this incident--up to and including the cop with the bullhorn--are idiots. They should all go to Stupid Prison, where they will remain until their I.Q.'s magically rise, or they die, whichever comes first.

Come to think of it, I've a rather extensive list of potential inmates. We're going to need a bigger building.

Much bigger.

"I didn't know what kind of mood he was in. I didn't want to say anything to him." Probably best in a situation such as this to not say anything. As for his mood, he was pissed off. How can someone say something reasonable after saying somthing stupid? * shrug * As far as him shooting at people, that's a leap. Assuming someone will shoot at a person just because they'll shoot at an inanimate object is a bit silly. I realize this is different than if he was just getting in some target practice but still.

I'm impressed that he was able to take out the car alarm in 3 shots! Nice shooting!

"I mean, that's not a safe guy. I mean, you get upset over an alarm, over a noise like that, (then) there's some little kids making too much noise and he decides to do something awful"

That IS a pretty big leap, even for a clueless asshat that can't understand why someone would be upset that a car alarm is going off outside his home. It may have occured to the guy to ask the car to stop making noise first, but I doubt it would have proven a very effective tactic. Shooting an inanimate object owned by a moron is a far cry from shooting a child.. I'm sure just waving the gun at them would have worked in that case. ;-)
