Mushroom Life

Very cool mathematical software toy.

It is statistically possible to create a dynamically stable ecosystem, (constant birth-growth-death cycle), but not nearly as easy as it first seems. My longest run was 437 generations across the entire grid before static equilibrium was reached with 21 final stage cells.

(Hint: Start with a long line, flanked by several groupings of recursive three-cell entities.)
