I can't decide whether it's an inside joke or they're just cultural idiots. Based upon my observation of human behavior over the past 12 months, I'm leaning heavily towards the latter. Even so, you'd think that surely at some point someone in marketing said in their best Charleton Heston voice, "Is this really a good idea?"
