The FBI “failed to preserve” five months worth of text messages exchanged between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, the two FBI employees who made pro-Clinton and anti-Trump comments while working on the Clinton email and the Russia collusion investigations.

The disclosure was made Friday in a letter sent by the Justice Department to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC).

“The Department wants to bring to your attention that the FBI’s technical system for retaining text messages sent and received on FBI mobile devices failed to preserve text messages for Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page,” Stephen Boyd, the assistant attorney general for legislative affairs at the Justice Department, wrote to Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, the chairman of HSGAC.

Oh, and I'm sure the carrier (which is required to preserve communications for two years) and the NSA (who routinely monitor and record all federal communications) don't have copies. No, of course not...

Look, I realize you swamp creatures think those of us out here in pay-your-taxes land are a bunch of mouth-breathing chimps, but you're wrong. You can only pull this sort of cutesy shit for so long before the pitchforks come out, and you've been doing it for decades. Every bill must be paid eventually, and you're not going to like the figures on this bill when it comes due.

Rep. Jordan says he's going to get to the bottom of it and bring people up on charges. We'll see. Problem is, I don't think Jeff Sessions has any interest in convicting anyone in the FBI of anything. He's too busy worrying about hippies growing pot in Colorado.
