Fraud Machines

Voting Machine Hacking: 30 Out of 30 Breached at DEF CON

Voting machine hacking was featured at the DEF CON cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas over the weekend to show how easy it is. In fact, 30 out of 30 different machines from a variety of vendors were hacked.

"It took me only a few minutes to see how to hack it," security consultant Thomas Richards said. "I didn’t come in knowing what to expect, but I was surprised by what I found."

The newspaper stated that one machine used beneath-the-surface software, known as firmware. Since its 2007 design, several well-known vulnerabilities have been identified.

The best method for safeguarding the integrity of votes is paper ballots dropped individually into a steel strongbox, which is in turn guarded by two large state troopers with shotguns. The ballots should be tallied by hand by not less than five different people from other precincts. If there is a discrepancy, five more people from five other precincts are brought in to do it again. Putting the system into an electronic format was a bad idea from the very beginning -- but it was done for a very specific reason...

Chances to test the vulnerabilities of voting machines are rare because manufacturers don't often make their machines available for independent testing.

And if you think that's a mere coincidence or oversight, you're a naive fool. The only thing that makes a politician hornier than spending taxpayer money is the potential for foolproof control over elections. I guarantee you there's a money trail from politicians to the companies who manufacture these flawed machines; it's only a matter of finding it. Because the one thing which ALL politicians have in common is an underdeveloped sense of ethics.

Dump the electronics, bring back the paper.

There are several, and inexpensive, protections that other countries have of their ballots that we (Democrats) have fought tooth and nail to keep out.

Photo ID needed to vote: MexicoTo register to vote, eligible citizens must visit one of the federal election agency’s 332 district offices. After filling out a voter registration form, registrants have their fingerprint, signature, and photograph taken for a voter card. The agency will notify a voter when her card is ready to be picked up, typically 20 days after submission of a registration application. The voter must provide valid identification to pick up their voter card.

Many Middle eastern countries (to include IRAQ) require the voter to be marked after voting, usually dipping their finger in to ink to show they have voted and to prevent them from voting again.

Pictures of the candidates on the ballots: This would eliminate the whole "Hanging chad" fiasco the Dems tried to pull a few years back.

And of course, a single day to vote. This nonsense of early voting is, yes, convenient, but leads itself to voter fraud by allowing persons a chance to vote multiple times.

The RIGHT to vote is a privilege, and many people across the world get no say in their government. To me, if it is that important to you, you will make the time and go out of your way to make sure your vote is important and COUNTS.
