Zipping Along

Some subways are literally held together with zip ties

Now, the explanation given by the MTA (New York Citys transit authority) sounds reasonable and plausible, but, are they going to say, our shit is broken and we don't have the parts, so we used a zip tie until we could get them from back order? Ol' Billie B and his cohorts have been so focused on making sure you don't drink too many Big Gulps, and that the evil horse and carriage business is shut down, that they have ignored the giant festering rot under their feet. The NY subway system. Over the past few years (longer really) general maintenance and repair and replacement of switches, track, cars, power system, and just about anything else that keeps the cars rolling, has been neglected. I guess New Yorkers long for the heady days under Ed Koch when the city was a cess pool.
