Running with Blades
Just finished watching Blade Runner, and I realized a few things:
1. Still holds up after 30 plus years
2. You can see it's influence in many of the more gritty Sci-Fi stuff that comes out today
3. The Damn thing is set in 2019! That means in less that three years we will have flying cars, lifelike killer robots, and be on the outer planets. So, Step it up Science geeks and get to Sciencing some of this shit into reality! You can skip the killer robots though, that just sounds all kinda sucky.
3 Comments:
I noticed a banner on Netflix this weekend for the theatrical cut. Might have to give it a spin for old time sake.
Still absorbed in finishing season 2 of Agents of SHIELD right now. Once you get past the utterly ridiculous premise and the too-cute, bubblegum-smacking "hacker" chick, the plot twists are actually quite interesting and help to fill in the gaps between the various Marvel movies of the last decade. Also, Clark Gregg is a dead ringer for James Caan circa 1975, which is a huge plus for me.
According to Space: 1999, we should have had a moon base colony at the turn of the century. But since we'd rather vote ourselves pay to not work instead of advancing the human race, you can see the inevitable result of not actually constructing a moon base.
Blade Runner: I have to agree, the movie really has aged well. I've made it a habit to watch the movie every couple of years (the original version with the Mickey Spillane style narration by Decker). One thing I have noticed...the A.D.D. younger generations seem to have a hard time with the movie because there's lots of talking and thinking and not alot of 'splosions.
Agent's of Shield: Yeah...I've always liked the character of Agent Coulson and was happy when I saw that there would a show featuring him. I've also liked how they have been very good at keeping the events in the show tied in to whats happening in the movies.
