Little Green Men

The Martian

OK, I'm sure some of you have seen the Ads for the new movie The Martian. It intrigued me, so I went and bought the book and read it.(read the book in 2 days, it was that good) Unlike many books made into movies today, Andy Weir is a science NASA geek. The science in the book is sound and if the Tards in Hollywood stay even remotely close to the book (and based off of the previews, it appears they do) this may be some of the best stuff that cesspool has put out in a long time. I actually can't wait to see it and hope I am not being lured in like an abused spouse "Sure honey, I mean it this time, it'll be different". We shall see. If you are skeptical, at least read the book, I think you will like it.

One of the best books I've read in years. I risked looking like a fan boy recommending it to all my friends but did it anyway. I'll know if they did the movie right by the first spoken line and will be disappointed if it’s anything other than "I'm pretty much fucked."

Hm. Cautiously intrigued, but if I have to bet, it'll be on your being an abused spouse, man. =P

I'll wait for it to hit the satellite movie channels. That way I can turn it off and go find something else to do after it pisses me off with some social justice crap ten minutes in. I'm done paying to sit in a theater with loud-mouthed children and ghetto trash and then feeling like I have to stay in order to get my money's worth. No. Thanks.

As to the book, I'll stick it in the queue. I'm just starting the fourth of ten books in David Drake's thus-far excellent RCN series, so it'll be a while before I get to it. The first book of the RCN series is free, by the way; kinda like giving away that first dose of crack...
